If you were denied long term disability, watch this video about the emotional distress after a long term disability claim most people feel.
Question:
What is the typical emotional state of someone who was denied long term disability claim?
Answer:
When people with long term disability cases call, they’re usually in a big mess. They’ve often been denied disability and been told by the claims rep, “Just appeal. It’ll be fine. You don’t need a lawyer. Appeal.”
What they’re not told is they can be stuck with that appellate record, not knowing what to submit in their appeal or how to get letters from doctors to support that appeal. They don’t know the language needed for a successful appeal. Oftentimes they come to us after they appeal, and we are stuck with the administrative record. That’s a very difficult situation to overcome.
Our advice to anyone with a long term disability claim is get on it right away. Don’t take anybody’s word for it that you can do the appeal yourself, because it’ll hurt you in the long run. Retain an experienced long term disability attorney and allow them to guide your claim through the courts properly from the beginning.
